How to Find an Existing Patient

The first step in virtually any procedure in the software is to find the patient whose record you want to access. If the patient cannot be found, it is likely he or she is not in the database. In that case, you may add a new patient.

Prior to adding a patient, you should search for the Patient by Name or Social Security. If your organization uses medical record numbers (MRN), you should also search by the MRN prior to adding the patient. If the patient has changed names, you should also try searching the AKA name field, which is explained in the topic, Select Patient Lookup List.
