Referrals Tracking
If you have not already done so, please read Incident Record Overview and Check-Out Patients Overview.
Summary
This function tracks referrals to other health care providers, who might or might not be outside your organization. It may be used to document referrals to hospital departments, Physical Therapy, the employee's primary care physician, or an outside clinic providing injury care. If you track referrals, you can generate a Referrals Analysis report.
Prior to entering referral notes, the providers used in your organizations need to be set up on the Referral Providers table. If the provider you want is not on the list, contact your System Administrator The person who establishes entity codes, such as divisions and departments for employers, and system administration parameters. .
|
If your clinic uses Net Health Employee Health and Occupational Medicine Provider Charting then referrals will be probably be entered on the ORDERS tab of the Charting Template for the visit, and be handled through the Orders Management process. |

NOTE:
Net Health Employee Health and Occupational Medicine Enter/Edit Referrals from Case Management and the Incident will use the [Enter Visit Referral] window, rather than the [Enter Incident Referral] window. Additionally, when the window is called from Case Management or from the Incident, the Referral Summary button will not be visible.
Referrals can also be created from Visit Orders. A referral created from a referral order will show up on the [Get Referral] window which lists all referrals for this visit. A referral entered as described above will not show on the list of orders for the visit. One advantage of entering referrals first as orders is that it makes available the Authorizations Management system for tracking the status of referral authorizations. For the sake of consistency, your clinic should choose one approach or the other, and then be sure all referrals are entered in the same way.
The Referral Note supports the printing of ICD-9 and/or ICD-10's so that the recipient of the report may see all of the data recorded during charting. The different code sets for ICD-10 and ICD-9 will be printed separately and labeled appropriately.
