Alerts and Red Flag Warnings

When Wizards and Templates are set up, it is possible to have them generate an alert or red flag warning. For instance, an x-ray Wizard might have an alert that says "Patient will be exposed to xx mrads of radiation with this procedure."

There are three points where an alert or red flag warning can be specified:

  1. Template: Click the ALERT tab.

  2. Wizard: Click the ALERT tab.

  3. Wizard choice on a multiple choice step: Check the box labeled This Wizard should invoke this Red Flag or Alert Warning

Enter the alert message in the text entry box.

If the wizard is a history or exam Template Element, the warning will always be informational only.

For an MDM element you have an additional option which is controlled by an EMR Parameter on the AUTOMATION tab. This parameter allows you to specify that the warning display offer the provider the option of cancelling the Wizard.

On the Visit

These alerts are triggered when the user selects the related item-the Template Element, the Wizard, or the Wizard choice. The message is first displayed to the user, and then copied to the ALERTS tab on the [Clinical Problems Lists] window.
