Login / Logout of the Program
Summary
The software has a number of security features to protect the your database from unauthorized viewing and tampering. The front line of defense is your user code and password. These are entered on the login screen after you launch the application. While the user code can be entered in upper or lower case, the password is case sensitive-you must enter each character in the correct case.
Your initial password was given to you by the security administrator The person who manages all security functions, such as establishing security parameters, setting up user access rights, and reviewing and purging audit logs, supporting users who encounter problems (such as forgetting their personal passwords) and determining other security settings related to compliance with the HIPAA Security Standard. when your user account was created. Periodically, you must change it. The frequency with which it must be changed depends on how your system was set up.
Several requirements of your password will be determined by the system setup. There will be a minimum length. The password might have to be just letters, just numbers, any combination of the two, or a required combination of the two. If unsure, ask your security administrator about the requirements for your system.
The program allows an individual user to log into as many as three modules simultaneously. For instance, you could be logged into Clinic, Billing, and DrugPix all at the same time.
Login Message
The system Login message may be user defined. The system comes with a default Login message shown in the Administer Security System Settings; however users have the option to create a customized message of their own up to 700 Characters.
System Time-out
Your system might be set to automatically log you out after a period of inactivity. If so, the actual period will be determined by your system administrator. The time-out is based on use of your workstation, not just the application. If you have the software open, and spend time working with, say, your e-mail or a spreadsheet, you will not be logged out of the software.
Account Suspension
If you try to login a certain number of times, this number is set by your organization, but fail to enter the correct password, your user account will be suspended. This is to prevent an unauthorized person from making repeated attempts to guess your password. If your account is suspended, you will need to contact your security administrator to unlock your account.
Logging Out
There are two ways to log out of the software. The first is to simply click the Red X in the top right corner of the window. That will close the program completely. If you share a workstation with others, you can log out without closing the software. This saves some time when the next user wants to log in. To do this, click the button on the toolbar. You will be logged out, but the program will not close, and instead, will show the login window for the next user.
