Set Up Covered Entity Groups

This topic applies only to those organizations that will track more than one covered entity with HIPAA Guard .

Summary

For reporting purposes, HIPAA Guard enables you to group covered entities into higher organizational units, such as Campus, District and Region. This topic explains how to set up the groups themselves (i.e. the members of each group. For example, if you are tracking Campuses, you may have an East Campus and a West Campus as members of the group Campus).

Setup

Each of the Entity Groups (Campus, District, Region) is set up the same way, so only one will be explained here.

  1. From the Home Launch pad, click the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION tab.

  2. Click the Region (or District or Campus) button on the left side of the window.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter a code and a description for the unit (the description will print on reports).

  5. Click OK.

  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for each unit.

  7. When you are finished, click Close to return to the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION tab.

  8. Repeat steps 2 through 7 to complete the other Entity Group codes.
